About us

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

(Jesus speaking in Mark 16:15, King James Version)

Who we are:

We are a husband and wife team, Eddie and Gail Shifflett, who spend our days volunteering full-time for God. We live in Gastonia, North Carolina.

The most important thing that we do is to talk to people about salvation.

There are so many people who need to hear about Jesus Christ- how He shed His blood so that their sins can be forgiven, and how they can spend eternity with Him.

We begin each day by praying and asking God where He wants us to go that day- and what He wants us to do when we get there.

We may be visiting inmates at a jail one day, and preaching in a nursing home the next.

We go to hospitals and pray for the sick, and to the streets to tell the homeless people about the hope that they have in Jesus Christ.

We help people move- using our van (and our man-power!); take them grocery shopping, or to their doctor or dentist appointments; and even to get their hair cut.

We do a lot of "phone ministering"- offering encouragement to people who call us for advice, and helping them to get through the tough times and situations that they are facing. Sometimes it helps to have someone to talk to- and we are the "someones" that people often call.

God uses us to:

  • encourage those who are extremely depressed and/or suicidal. (We get quite a few of these calls);
  • give sound Biblical advice to fellow Christians who are being attacked by the devil;
  • offer prayers to those who don't know where to turn to when things are going wrong in their lives.

We also take care of Gail's 80 year-young mom. She lives across the street from us and is fairly self-sufficient, considering the fact that she is pretty much wheelchair bound. She is unable to drive or do much housework since falling and suffering a broken ankle in March 2007, and then having major back surgery in April, 2007 to remove a tumor on her spine. We take care of her full-time so that she will not have to live in a nursing home. We clean her house, take her shopping, and help her with whatever else she has need of. We also bake homemade bread and pastries for her- which is what she used to do for us! We  include her in our outings whenever we are able to- and she just loves to ride along with us to see where God will send us next!

We will share some of our ministry adventures with you on the 'newsletter' page.

What we believe:

We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin- according to the following scriptures:

Matthew 1:20  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Matthew 1:22  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

Matthew 1:23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Luke 1:26  And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

Luke 1:27  To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

Luke 1:30  And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

Luke 1:31  And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Luke 1:34  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

Luke 1:35  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

We believe that Jesus Christ died and shed His sinless blood so that our sins could be forgiven, and that He rose from the dead on the third day, as stated in:

1 Corinthians 15:3, 4

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures: And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

We believe that Jesus will return one day to take His children home to live with Him forever.

1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

We believe that the fullness of the Godhead exists in three persons: the Father; the Word- Jesus Christ, (who was born of a virgin, became a man, and dwelt among us in the flesh); and the Holy Ghost.

1 John 5:7

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

We believe that the Holy Bible (King James Version) is the inspired word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
